5-Hour Intensive Curriculum
Understand natural quartz (SiO₂) crystal structures, physical characteristics, and optical properties (hardness, specific gravity, double refraction, pleochroism); build a solid mineral identification mindset.
Demystify popular trade varieties: Super Seven, Strawberry Quartz, Green Strawberry Quartz, Rutilated Quartz, and Phantom Quartz; explore related varieties including chalcedony, agate, jasper, and pietersite.
Identify common imitations: synthetic hydro-thermal quartz, melted glass, resin-filled stones, irradiation, dyed cracked quartz, and heat treatments; master field testing and loupe observation techniques.
Practical breakout sessions comparing genuine specimens against synthetics; present your personal crystal pieces for individual evaluation, receiving objective appraisals and professional guidance from Shih-Yu Wu.
